What
is ISciences?
We are a team of experts in environmental
science and remote sensing, and creators of the TerraViva! family
of data visualization products about Earth and its
people. Our mission is to promote better understanding
of Earth for the mutual benefit of society and the
environment using science and technology.
What
does ISciences do?
We call ourselves ISciences because we use imaging and information
sciences to study the Earth. We develop innovative software
to improve public access to the rich archives of data about
Earth. We study the implications of environmental stress
on human security. We develop databases and tools to monitor
sustainable use of Earth resources using spatial data like
remote sensing. Our projects have included measuring the
productivity of cultivated land in China, mapping global
patterns of energy use with nighttime illumination, examining
the implications of changes in the Russian boreal forest,
and monitoring forest fires in Indonesia.
