The forecast through May 2023 predicts severe to exceptional deficits in central France, central Sweden, and throughout the Balkans. Pockets across northern Italy and northeastern Spain can expect deficits of similar intensity.

The forecast through April 2023 predicts severe to exceptional deficits in central France, central Sweden, and coastal areas of the Balkans. Pockets across northern Italy, northeastern Spain, and central Poland can expect deficits of similar intensity. Switzerland, Austria, eastern Hungary, eastern Slovakia, and Romania are expected to experience areas of moderate surplus.

The 12-month forecast ending in September 2023 indicates widespread deficits across Continental Europe with varying degrees of intensity, while the United Kingdom and Ireland are expected to experience pockets of mild to moderate surpluses.  

Widespread water deficits are expected in France, northern Italy, northern Germany, along with many pockets elsewhere in continental Europe. Deficits will be exceptional in central Sweden and the Baltic region. Areas of surplus include the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, and European Russia.

The forecast through January 2023 indicates that water deficits will shrink and downgrade but remain widespread, particularly in France, Spain, Italy, the Baltics, and Sweden. Surpluses will emerge throughout Norway.
