The forecast through June indicates that water surpluses will downgrade and shrink overall but will remain widespread in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and from eastern Java through the Lesser Sunda Islands. Widespread deficits will emerge in Sumatra.

Regions forecast to have significant water deficits for the 12-month period of January through December 2021 include: Brazil, Iran, and the U.S. Southwest. Areas with a forecast of significant water surplus include: Northeast China, Botswana, and Java. This Watch List is based on ISciences Water Security Indicator Model v2 (WSIMv2) run on 5 April 2021.
