The forecast through January 2022 indicates that water deficits will shrink and surpluses will downgrade. Areas of deficit include Florida, the Upper Midwest, and the Carolinas. Widespread surpluses are forecast in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

Areas with a forecast of significant water surplus include: China, Nepal, and Southeast Asia.
