The forecast through February 2022 indicates intense water surpluses in southern India and West Bengal. Deficits will emerge in western Rajasthan. Surpluses are also forecast for Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and northern Pakistan.

Regions forecast to have significant water deficits for the 12-month period September 2021 through August 2022 include: Chile, Venezuela, the Texas Panhandle (U.S), Quebec, North Africa, and Ukraine. Areas of significant water surplus include: China, Nepal, India, and Southeast Asia. This Watch List is based on ISciences Water Security Indicator Model v2 (WSIMv2) 6 December 2021.
