The forecast through December indicates that widespread water surpluses will persist in western India and the Deccan Plateau, Bangladesh, eastern Nepal, and many regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Intense deficits will emerge in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Regions forecast to have significant water deficits for the 12-month period of July 2020 through June 2021 include: Venezuela, French Guiana, Estonia, Latvia, Quebec (Canada), and the U.S. Southwest. Areas with a forecast of significant water surplus include: China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and the Sahel (Africa). This Watch List is based on ISciences Water Security Indicator Model v2 (WSIMv2) run on 5 October 2020.
Global Precipitation & Temperature Outlook October 2020
The October Outlook indicates warmer than normal temperatures in many regions around the world notably the U.S. West where conditions will be exceptionally warmer in the Southern Rockies, Southwest, and Southern California. Central and Northern Europe can expect to be wetter than normal, and the Tibetan Plateau will be drier.
