The forecast anticipates exceptional deficits to continue in northern and northwestern African countries, as well as some central and southern countries. Intense surpluses are expected to emerge in areas throughout the Sahel.
The forecast indicates that intense surplus will occur in most northern and central regions of Australia, with exceptional deficits diminishing in portions of the country near its western coast. Exceptional deficits are expected to emerge in Tasmania, as well as in pockets across New Zealand.
The forecast indicates that exceptional deficits will mostly dissipate in northeastern China, but continue in northern, southern, and northwestern portions of the country. Exceptional surplus is expected to diminish in southwestern China, though moderate to severe surpluses may continue in eastern regions of the country.
The forecast indicates that exceptional deficits in Mainland Southeast Asia will persist but lessen in size, while intense surpluses will expand throughout Maritime Southeast Asia.
The September Outlook indicates much warmer than normal temperatures - conditions we'd expect to see once in 20 to 40 years - in many regions of the world including India's southern half, coastal West Africa, and the eastern Amazon Basin. Much drier than normal conditions are forecast for central India.
The August forecast indicates a few areas that will see drier than normal conditions, including northern India from Gujarat through the center of the country; and, along the southern and eastern shores of the Black Sea. But once again it is the temperature forecast that commands attention with vast areas of northern South America and the Middle East forecast to be exceptionally hotter than normal, as well as many other parts of the world with a forecast of warm anomalies of varying severity.
Though there are several regions with a July forecast of significant precipitation anomalies - India's Western Ghats will be much drier than normal and northern Argentina will be much wetter - the temperature forecast has more severe and widespread anomalies. The African Sahel, Saudi Arabia, and Mongolia are among the numerous regions forecast to see much warmer than normal temperatures.
The forecast for June 2017 indicates much warmer than normal temperatures across northern South America, the Sahel, coastal West Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Indonesia, and other regions. Precipitation anomalies include much wetter than normal conditions in Gabon, northern Zambia, and Tanzania; and much drier than normal conditions in Ethiopia and Western Australia.
The forecast for May 2017 indicates much wetter than normal conditions in East Africa, particularly Kenya and Tanzania. Much warmer than normal than normal conditions are forecast for Myanmar, western and southern India, northwest Africa, northern Far East Russia, and eastern and southern Greenland. Many other parts of the world are expected to be warmer than normal with varying severity.
