Exceptional surpluses in India will mostly dissipate, transitioning to moderate to severe surpluses. Exceptional deficits will remain in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Southeast Asia & the Pacific: Water deficits forecast to persist in Southeast Asia, eastern Borneo, New Guinea

Moderate to exceptional water deficits are forecast through August 2016 for many parts of Southeast Asia and the Pacific in the coming months, diminishing in the later months. Deficits are expected to be most persistent, widespread, and severe in Southeast Asia, eastern Borneo, and the island of New Guinea.

South Asia: Exceptional deficits forecast across much of India through February; notable surpluses in southeastern India

The forecast through August 2016 indicates water deficits in southern Afghanistan, Pakistan, and most of India, with some areas experiencing both deficits and surpluses. Notable surpluses are forecast in southeastern India. Surpluses are also forecast for Sri Lanka, northeastern Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Central Asia & Russia: Surpluses are forecast along rivers in Kazakhstan and between the Urals and the Siberian Plateau in Russia

Surpluses are forecast in northern Kyrgyzstan and along rivers in Kazakhstan. Across the border into the center of Russia, widespread surpluses are forecast for an area from the Ural Mountains to the Central Siberian Plateau. Moderate water deficits are expected in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and eastern Tajikistan. 

Middle East: Moderate to exceptional water deficits are forecast through Aug 2016, particularly March through May

Moderate to exceptional water deficits are forecast across much of the Middle East through August 2016. Widespread exceptional deficits on the Arabian Peninsula are forecast to diminish in severity December through February, but re-emerge March through May. Deficits in Turkey are forecast to spread to most of the country from December on, though surpluses are forecast to persist in the northeast. 

Europe: Water deficits forecast for Mediterranean Europe, surpluses in Ireland and Scotland

Water deficits are forecast for much of Mediterranean Europe, southern France, the Iberian Peninsula, Finland, the Baltics, Eastern Europe, and European Russia. Surpluses are forecast for Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, northern Germany, western Czech Republic, and northern Sweden.
